Mergers as a probe of particle dark matter

چکیده
Black holes below Chandrasekhar mass limit (1.4 $M_{\odot}$) can not be produced via any standard stellar evolution. Recently, gravitational wave experiments have also discovered unusually low black whose origin is yet to known. We propose a simple novel formation mechanism of such holes. Non-annihilating particle dark matter, owing their interaction with nuclei, gradually accumulate inside compact stars, and eventually swallows them holes, ordinarily impermissible by the limit. point out several avenues test this proposal, concentrating on cosmic evolution binary merger rates.

Cosmic antiprotons as a probe for neutralino dark matter?
The flux of cosmic ray antiprotons from neutralino annihilations in the galactic halo is computed for a large sample of models in the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. We also revisit the problem of estimating the background of low-energy cosmic ray induced secondary antiprotons, taking into account their subsequent interactions (and energy loss) and the presence of nuclei...

متن کاملA New Direction in Dark-Matter Complementarity: Dark-Matter Decay as a Complementary Probe of Multi-Component Dark Sectors
In single-component theories of dark matter, the 2 → 2 amplitudes for dark-matter production, annihilation, and scattering can be related to each other through various crossing symmetries. These crossing relations lie at the heart of the celebrated complementarity which underpins different existing dark-matter search techniques and strategies. In multi-component theories of dark matter, by cont...

DARK MATTER HALO MERGERS AND QUASARS Jorge Moreno Ravi Sheth, Advisor The formation and evolution of galaxies and the supermassive black holes they harbor at their nuclei depends strongly on the merger history of their surrounding dark matter haloes. First we developed a semi-analytic algorithm that describes the merger history tree of a halo. The following tests were performed: the conditional...
متن کاملParticle Dark Matter
There is plenty of evidence that most matter in the universe is dark (non–luminous). Particle physics offers several possible explanations. In this talk I focus on cold dark matter; the most promising candidates are then axions and the lightest supersymmetric particle. I briefly summarize estimates for the present relic density of these particles, and describe efforts to detect them. To appear ...
